I recently had the opportunity to try out Vitabath body wash. I gotta say, I’m a big fan now.
I tried their Pomegranate and Blood Orange body wash from the Fruit Fanatic line. If you like fruity scents, this is totally for you. I liked that it was a natural fruit smell, not a “fake fruit” smell, if you know what I mean. It smells like fresh citrus and makes me crave a glass of juice every time I open the bottle.
The body wash came with a shower pouf, but I prefer to use my loofah. It lathered up really well and filled the whole shower with the gorgeous scent of blood oranges and pomegranate.
Vitabath body washes are sulfate and paraben free, too. I’ve heard those terms used in a lot of natural products lately, but never really understood what they meant. So I did a little digging.
Parabens are chemicals commonly used in beauty products like shampoos, moisturizers, body washes, makeup, and even toothpaste. The reason they’re scary is that they’ve been found in breast cancer tumors and have the ability to slightly mimic estrogen, the female hormone. Though no definitive links between cancer and parabens have been found, I know I’d rather avoid them if I can.
Sulfates are inorganic compounds often used in shampoos and body washes to produce a lathering effect. Who doesn’t like a good lather, right? They also remove natural oils, which can be a big negative for people with sensitive hair and skin, and have also been reported to strip hair color.
The Vitabath fragrance collection is entirely free of parabens and sulfates, which is a pretty good thing in my book now that I know what those are.
