My family and I traveled to Boston, MA over the Labor Day long weekend and had the pleasure of staying in the newly renovated Boston Marriot Burlington!
This multi-million dollar renovation included a facelift of the hotel’s lobby and public spaces. Upon entering the hotel, we were greeted by a beautiful wall fountain and red carpets that lead into the check-in area. If humans aren’t your thing, this Marriot now has the capability for you to check-in at their mobile kiosk. Upon chatting with the lovely woman who checked us in, she also informed me that after Labor Day, they would be closing the indoor and outdoor pool areas to continue their upgrades and renovations. Something to come back for, perhaps? 🙂
This 418-room full-service hotel now boasts 14,570 square feet of meeting space including the Celebrate Ballroom, making Boston Marriott Burlington a premier destination for meetings, business, and leisure travel to the Greater Boston area. It was an easy and short 20 minute car ride (17 miles) into Boston and we loved the fact that we were so close to the action, but didn’t have to deal with the higher prices and crowds that can sometimes come along with being closer to a metropolis.
I loved the contemporary vibe of the lobby, which boasted over-sized couches and chairs and a really relaxing gas fireplace with see-through glass that connected, yet elegantly separated the lobby area from the bar and lounge. The tones were warm and inviting and I honestly felt very relaxed from the moment we entered. The lobby also has a 14-person communal table, large u-shaped bar, cozy nooks, wide screen TV’s, and original artwork. One thing I did not know about Boston is how environmentally aware they are. The Marriot is an ENERGY STAR® rated green hotel.
If you have a business meeting or event in mind, the hotel features a total of 21 meeting rooms with 14,570 square feet of flexible space all located on one level as well as a 9,000 sq. ft. ballroom, divisible into 10 sections. Meeting and event space renovations included the addition of three new private rooms named: Ignite, Inspire and Imagine, which I thought was a modern way to name rooms instead of the usual “gold”, “silver”, “bronze” denotations.
The room we had was tucked away into a corner on the 9th floor and it was so quiet, I almost forgot where I was! My children slept until 8am the first night and almost 9am the second night. That never happens! So, I was grateful for the comfort this room provided. All the necessities were there and we especially appreciated the mini-fridge and aromatherapy bath items. Housekeeping was quick and thorough and all the staff were polite and helpful.
The Boston Marriott Burlington is located at One Burlington Mall Road in Burlington, MA. For more information, please call 781-229-6565 or visit marriottburlington.com.I highly recommend you check this hotel out next time you stay in the Boston area!
Located in the lobby of the Boston Marriott Burlington is Chopps American Bar & Grill. I almost wish they didn’t give this restaurant the tagline of “American Bar & Grill” because I imagined it to be the usual casual hamburger fare. This place is so, so much more than that and I hope they seriously consider a re-branding!
This restaurant was warm and unpretentious and featured a prominently open kitchen, which gave us a glimpse behind the scenes. My children enjoyed watching the sauces, garnishes, and other finishing touches being added after the food was fired. The Chopps menu is extensive, yet not overwhelming and features a variety of all natural organic steaks, fresh local seafood, and regional specialties. This labor of love is the joint creation of nationally acclaimed consulting chef Daniel Bruce, Chopps chef David Verdo and Marriott Burlington chef John Costello.
Signature dishes include a bone-in filet and Delmonico steaks served with Bearnaise, Chimichurri or Chopps Steak Sauce, Block Island Swordfish Chops Bouillabaisse style, Char-Seared Yellow Fin Tuna with Bok Choy, Crispy Pork Belly with Hoisin BBQ, Napa Cabbage and Horseradish Slaw, Lamb Lollichopps Tzatziki, and so much more!
You know a place is good if the locals come there to eat as well! Chopps does very well in appealing to neighboring businesses, hotel guests, and locals alike!
If you aren’t able to stay overnight and are ever in the area, Chopps should be on your must-eat list!
Please excuse the lousy iPhone pictures- I forgot my camera in the hotel room and with two very hungry kiddos I didn’t dare delay the order by going back to retreieve it!
