Hi! I’m Donna, mom to my brood of 4, and married to my hubby of almost 17 years. We live in the middle of Connecticut, where the winters are cold & snowy, the summers are hot & sticky, and the rest of the year can be lovely when it wants to be. I do not have my own blog (not yet anyway, never say never), and I am really excited to be a contributor here at 3 Boys and a Dog.
Meet my brood:
Joe is 22, and a former US Marine. He’s back home now, though not living “at home”, preparing to start college soon. He’s either the toughest teddy bear you’ll ever meet, or the sweetest tough guy – depends on the day I guess.
Kourtni is 16, a typical teenage girl some of the time, and so non-typical other times. She’s a great student, plays the trombone, loves reading & music in general, and is getting ready to start applying to colleges soon. She is considering a career as a music therapist. Oh, and of course, she’s hoping to get a driver’s license soon too (here come the gray hairs!), and like any teenager – she’s addicted to her laptop, iPod, and cell phone.
Spencer is 7, and our little “Harry Potter”. No lie, that is one of the things EVERYONE says when they meet him – how much he looks like Harry Potter. We always say, if they ever did a movie of HP’s childhood before the books, Spencer could star in it. He’s my little bookworm, though sometimes the video games win out too. He loves to read, write, draw, when he’s not racing cars on the Wii. He’s really interested in Space, loves all animals, especially dogs, and already thinks he wants to be a vet when he grows up. He’s pretty impressive, especially when you consider that he was born 3 months early, and wasn’t even speaking until he was 3! Quite a turnaround for him!
Then there is the ”baby”, Mia. She’s 6, and the most lovable terror on the planet! That girl has more moods than anyone I know. She’s a wild one, but loves her dresses & jewelry – can hang with any boy around, but still plays with her dolls/Barbies too. She makes my head spin, and I love her to pieces! She’s another reader, but sometimes she’s just too “busy” to read – too much energy in that one!
Dave, my husband – how to describe that man? He’s a comedian at heart. When he’s not working, or doing projects around the house, he’s an avid eBay seller, lego enthusiast (one of the reasons he loves having kids around – someone to play legos with!), and does some acting in his spare time. He’s part of a theater group, and an Improv troupe, so he definitely keeps himself busy. Life is always interesting with him around.
What about me? Well, I seem to be addicted to my computer. When I am not attached to my lifeline here, you can find me reading – either from my Nook or a real live book. I LOVE historical books, either fiction or non-fiction, and really anything about women’s lives in cultures that differ from mine. I love learning about other cultures, religions, lifestyles – it all fascinates me. I am also a budding cook of sorts. I know, that is strange in my 40′s, but we’re trying to eat more healthily and I am in love with finding new recipes that we all (or at least most) enjoy. I am rarely found without the radio on, as I love music as well (can’t read music, or play a note to save my life, but I love it!) I also run my own home business, and try to avoid the housework whenever possible.
As a family, we watch way too much tv (working on that), spend practically every weekend at the local amusement park during it’s open season, and live from my calendar. Someone always has something going on, so we’ve become very adept at making sure it’s written down – if it’s not on the calendar, it doesn’t happen. We love baseball games, and just any fun family event we can find. We’re very active with the elementary school too. Luckily, there are so many things to do in Connecticut, we can always find something to do when we don’t want to just lounge at home.

Wow you seem to have really big family. It’s really awesome, cause nowadays people rather tend to keep it small. Congrats
