Are you expecting your first child? If so, you’ve probably already heard the phrase “Your life will never be the same” so many times that you’re sick of it.

Guess what?

It’s absolutely and completely true. It sounds trite, but it’s accurate. Everything that you know about your life as it is now changes drastically after having your first child.

When I was pregnant with my first child, I read stacks of parenting books from cover to cover trying to find out exactly what I should expect. But there were still things I didn’t realize until after I’d already lived through first-time motherhood. Those are the tips I’m sharing today!

Here are 7 life-changing hacks for first time moms that will make life with your new baby much simpler! Plus, you can enter an awesome sweepstakes courtesy of COUNTRY Financial® and DIAPERS.COM that will make first-time motherhood even easier!

Stick to the basics…on everything. If you like boutique versions of diapers, clothes, and baby toys, then go for it and splurge away! But if you’re on a budget (like most moms), stick to the basics when it comes to choosing baby supplies. Babies are wonderfully low-maintenance.
Use scents to soothe. Your newborn will love your natural scent. If you want to help your child nap soundly, try placing a shirt you’ve worn recently under the crib mattress so she can smell your scent and relax.
Invest in a rocking chair. Seriously, it’s so worth it. Whether you’re nursing or formula-feeding, you will spend many sleepless nights sitting up with your child. Being able to rock your baby to sleep can really help both of you to calm down.
Try babywearing. Use a wrap or a carrier to “wear” your newborn during the day. It frees up your hands (so you can actually get things done) and it gives you and baby a chance to bond right away.
Set up diaper changing baskets around the house. While you might have a changing table in the nursery, it’s a good idea to set up diaper changing “baskets” in other areas. Simply place diaper changing supplies in a couple of baskets and place in rooms where you spend a great day of time: your bedroom, the living room, etc. This way, you’ll be able to perform a diaper change anywhere.
Help your baby get used to noise right from the start. In the past, mothers were encouraged to keep the home quiet during the day to avoid waking the baby at nap time. But if you help your baby get to used to hearing noise at an early age, you can help her learn to sleep more soundly. So, vacuum the carpet, use the blender, and run the garbage disposal like you normally do!
Hold your baby every chance you get. Most of all, don’t miss a single opportunity to snuggle with your new baby. It’s true that you will be tired beyond what you previously thought humanly possible. But it’s also true that your baby will only be small for a little while. Make the most of this special time!

Great tips! I used a sling to carry around my babies and I loved the rocking chair. Have a great week!
