Mmm.. Mmm.. Muddy Pig!

My kids are still talking about the book “I Know a Wee Piggy” (catch the original Wee Piggy post here) so we decided to do Pig Craft Projects specifically to go with their favorite line, “Upside down, he wallowed in brown!”.  Want to follow along? DSCN1876 300x225 Mmm.. Mmm.. Muddy Pig!

What You Need:

  • Pink Construction Paper (for Pig Craft Projects)
  • White Construction Paper (for background)
  • Brown Paint
  • Tiny Sponge  (we cut up a kitchen sponge in about 6 pieces)
  • Googly eyes (optional)

What You Do:

To begin, I roughly drew a pig out of pink construction paper.   It is like a jungle of cords to get the printer hooked up these days, so suddenly printing templates just doesn’t seem worth it to me anymore.  Hoping to get that fixed soon!!

I cut the pig out and glued it “upside down” on the white paper, but of course, the kids had to right-side the pig before they could begin painting the Pig Craft Projects.  icon smile Mmm.. Mmm.. Muddy Pig!

I put some brown paint on a paper plate and handed them a little sponge, explaining the brown paint was the mud.

They got right to work and got a real kick out of saying “Muddy Pig!”

Muddy! Muddy! Muddy!

Here some mud!  There some mud!

Finished!  I wish we would have put some GOOGLY eyes on the pig.  That would have really sent it over the top.

We’ve been working on letter sounds this month, so today we concentrated on the sounds for “M” (muddy) and “P” (pig).
