These days, eating out is a luxury that so many families can’t afford. Even the fast food restaurants cost more than many of us can handle. Imagine my glee when I was approached about the news that Olive Garden and Red Lobster two of the country’s most iconic restaurants, Red Lobster and Olive Garden, both in the Darden family of restaurants, are unveiling exciting news to help make mealtime more accessible for all taste buds and budgets.

Consumers are increasingly pressed for time and money. In fact, a recent surveyfound that 94 percent of people feel closer to their family when sharing a meal together but nearly one third (30 percent) eat together as little as two nights a week or less.

Olive Garden announced the first phase of a significant menu transformation including new food, wine and promotions that enhance the variety and value it provides for guests. Now, Olive Garden guests can enjoy Lighter Italian Fare entrees (less than 575 calories) and a new line of exclusive signature wines, in addition to a “Dinner Today & Dinner Tomorrow” limited time offer – all created as part of the restaurant’s renewed focus on innovation.

Olive Garden is that place that you go with your Homecoming or Prom date because it is “expensive”. LOL! For down in the south, it has always been considered a nicer restaurant. I am so stoked to see their Dinner Today & Dinner Tomorrow initiative! Fun times!

Red Lobster has undergone the largest menu transformation in its history to provide guests more affordable, great-tasting seafood and non-seafood dishes with more overall choice and variety. In total, there are 29 new menu items. Nearly 25 percent of the menu features non-seafood items (up from eight percent on the previous menu). And, nearly 60 percent of the menu is available for under $15. The new menu is available across North America starting Oct. 15.

**Red Lobster’s latest update comes at a difficult time. Since 2005, consumers have been eating more meals at home and increasingly looking for cheaper options when they do eat out Google Hosted News

As someone who is severely allergic to seafood, this is fabulous news! My kids have never been to Red Lobster because there was virtually nothing for me to eat!

Both restaurants offer great food at a great value, including several dishes under $15.
