Blogging Basics: Making Twitter work for You!

BloggingBasics thumb2 Blogging Basics: Making Twitter work for You!

Last night during my weekly collaborators chat, we discussed some Twitter best practices and set goals for our Twitter followers.  We now have one week to meet those goals by following Gail’s advice and the advice that each of us shared.

At the time of the meeting, I had 7,172 twitter followers on my main id, @momof3boys3702 and 1,751 on my new id (for my deal site) @Deals_3BD.  My goals are to have 7500 on main and 2000 on deal one by the start of next week’s meeting.  Can I do it?  Will the following tips, articles, and programs really help me to succeed?  The problem is that I want good followers.  I want people that actually care about what I say, not just junk followers that will never click on one single link I send in. LOL!

#1 – Follow people!

You must be following people in order for them to follow you back.  So, how do you find people to follow?

  • Your twitter friends followers
  • “people like you” followers
  • search by hashtag for your keywords and follow the people discussing it
  • then follow their followers

#2 – Participate!

Be interesting!  Don’t just be a spammer or RT-er.  Actually hold and join in conversations, too!  Here’ are some tips:

  • Join a twitter party
  • Join a twitter chat
  • Answer questions under a hashtag that fits your blog niche
  • Ask questions under a hashtag that fits your niche!
  • Check in often with silly posts that people will want to respond to.

That’s it!  Do these ideas for a few minutes each day and see what next week brings you in the way of Twitter followers!

I have been looking for ways to boost my twitter followers, and I hadn’t really considered twitter chats- thanks for the helpful suggestion! Time to do some chatting (which I love to do!)
