Blogging Basics: Does Collaborating Work?

BloggingBasics thumb1 Blogging Basics: Does Collaborating Work?

Miss me?  Sorry, things have been a little crazy around here.  Anyway, I am not going to bore you with all of the crazy details of my life, but I did want to talk to you a little bit about collaborating with other bloggers.  The big name guys do it, but does it really work?

YES! Collaborating with other Bloggers Works!

How do I know?  Because I do it.  I have really buckled down and have a nice group of 4 other ladies that I have been working with.  Not only do we bounce ideas and questions off each other, but we tweet about each others neat posts, do FaceBook shouts outs, help each other with SEO and such, BUT we have also decided to write books together (Coming Soon!)

As many of you know, I started a brand new deals site at the request of many of you.  I have never done a deals site and am not an extreme couponing type person, so this was a bit like flying blind.  In addition to finding some great friends, I won a Business Development Program from GrowMap and was able to choose 4 other people to work through this case study with me.

We have been at it for about 3 weeks now and already I see a major difference in the traffic over there as well as the money I am making.  Guess what, since the deals site is a sub-site of this one, it has also increased traffic here!  Let me just say, Gail sure knows what she is talking about!

The frugal blogger deal collaboration that I won from Gail at GrowMap as far exceeded my expectations!  In addition to the regular tasks she gives us to improve our blog, SEO, page rankings, we have really formed a bond.  The five of us go to each other with any questions!  I have learned more from these girls in less than a month than I have in years of blogging. We are really taking off and have even started kicking around the idea of publishing books!

Please, if you get a chance go visit my new friends and tell them I sent you.

I want to know if you are part of a collaboration or tribe.  How does it help you?  Have you seen growth with it?  How long have you been doing it?

If you aren’t part of one, I challenge you to reach out to a few people in your niche that are around the same size as you (check the free portion of www.compete.com to find out their approximate size) and ask them about getting your tribe together.  Have fun with it.  I will check in from time to time about how the collaboration is coming.

    Hi Kelli,

I don’t have a certain collaboration with other bloggers, but i did some guest blogging on blogs in my
niche, and this was pretty successful.
You don’t get only link love and better search engine rankings, but also interested visitors, comment and
    rss subscribers.

This is a great post. I’ve never collaborated with someone else, but I am really interested in finding out more information on it now. I’ve kind of put my blog to the side for a while, but now I’m starting to focus on it more. Hopefully I find a group that I can learn and grow with too!

Allow my blogging isn’t anywhere near what you do; I find that listening to other people really helps to expand my point of view.

Creative expressions cannot exist in a vacuum. You can’t create by yourself. What you will do will become stale and staid. You must communicate with your peers and your audience to re-fresh your creative vision.

As a photographer, I put my photos on Flickr, not because I want to show off or just share them with friends and family. I put my images out there to pick the brains of everyone who sees them and leaves comments. I share images in the photography community, to improve them.

    Collaboration works…
