REVIEW: You Gotta Muve With The Gruve

gruve logo REVIEW: You Gotta Muve With The Gruve The Gruve Solution™ is a new, completely revolutionary approach to weight management. It isn’t a magic pill, miracle powder or meal replacement plan. It’s not about counting points, cutting carbs, or purchasing body-bending contraptions. And it doesn’t require 60 minutes at the gym 3 times a week or a $100-per-month membership. Instead, the Gruve Solution is an unprecedented, personalized, scientifically proven solution that enables healthy, sustainable weight loss. (from website)

Gruve is a tiny clip on device that you wear around your waist. This little device provides you with a personalized, quantifiable measure of your activities and the calories you burn throughout your day. The Gruve is very small and very light.  It doesn’t get in my way AT ALL, but it was hard to remember to put it on.  I finally made the habit of taking it off at night right beside my toothbrush so I would see it in the morning when I brushed my teeth. icon smile REVIEW: You Gotta Muve With The Gruve

The Gruve uses an omnidirectional accelerometer to measure activity intensity and duration. Synchronizing your Gruve device with our Gruve web site gives you the ability to view your own daily calorie burn and track your weight loss progress. (from site)

The instructions said that I should wear the Gruve monitor for 8 days and do all the normal activities that I usually tackle daily.  This was the hardest part for me!  I understand that it needs that long to get a good average of what your average day looks like.  Then, it takes your higest calorie burned day, your weight, etc and help you decide if you want to keep the weight you are at or lose weight.  It tells you how many caolories you should be taking in and how much “motion” you should have through the day.

If you follow #gruve on twitter, you can play with others who are trying to get “green” today. icon smile REVIEW: You Gotta Muve With The Gruve   The lights started off red, meaning you haven’t done much of anything and rotates through numberous colors until you get to green.  After 8 days of being green, the amount of motion you have to do to get to green increases a bit. icon smile REVIEW: You Gotta Muve With The Gruve

It really motivated me to get moving because I am a bit anal. icon smile REVIEW: You Gotta Muve With The Gruve   My husband would laugh because if I hadn’t gotten to green by bedtime I would do jumping jacks and run around in circles until I got it to green. icon smile REVIEW: You Gotta Muve With The Gruve   The device is supposed to vibrate if you are sitting down for too long, but it took me over a month to ever have it vibrate and that was once when I was super sick.  You have to stay still for 60 minutes before it wants you to get up.  60 minutes!?  ROTFL, I have 3 kids… as if I can ever stay still for 60 minutes. icon smile REVIEW: You Gotta Muve With The Gruve

But, I have some complaints, too.  The Gruve is 199 dollars at regular price.  Sometimes they go on sale for 1/ off.  At 199 dollars, I would expect it to be more accurate and more durable.

I went on vacation shortly after I got my Gruve… I was literally in the car for 9 hours.  I thought I was going to have a hard time trying to get to green since my whole day was wasted, but I was wrong.  The vibrations from the car made the Gruve think I was moving!  I was green before lunch!

My computer deleted the software for some reason and I had to try to get it back on.  I contacted customer service and after 4 days, I contacted customer service again.  When I finally got an answer, they were nice but again at 199 dollars I expect pretty fast service!

And last but not last, the clip that holds the Gruve to your belt or waist band broke!!  So, I have not been able to use it lately.  You can get a replacement, but since this was a review item, I didn’t feel right asking for a second one. LOL!
