During my weekly organizing session with Simple Organized Sanity this week, Christy Love made reference to an article in the New York Times titled ‘Cluttered Fridge Doors, Cluttered Lives’. She was talking about getting all the notes, stickies, magnets, etc off our our refrigerator doors to make way for a less cluttered house. Her story struck a chord in me… enough to have me looking up the article AND posting about it. LOL!
I don’t fill my fridge doors, my fridge has a little fridge magnet game (at the bottom) for Thomas. It teaches letters and phonics and I LOVE it. LOL! On the top of the right side, I have my BusyBodyBook UNlined Grid Pad. On the left, top, side I post our menu each week. (I have a new toy now that I am so ready to yank out and use AND share with you. Don’t worry, it is coming up this month.
) Oh, and I have a zip-lock baggie in which we put Campbell’s labels, Box Tops, and Pop-tabs for Zack’s school. That is it, not one other thing is on my refrigerator doors.
With that said, I have been places where the doors are so full you can’t even tell what color the fridge is! I don’t see how people can handle that! Doesn’t stuff fall off constantly?
But, I am curious, are your fridge doors cluttered? If so, is the rest of your house cluttered? My house is cluttered, my refrigerator is not.

Yes, and yes. Our tradition is to purchase souvenir magnets from places we visit (on vacation or special day trips). The front of the refrigerator is covered with those plus photos. The sides have more useful things: pharmacy phone number, coupons, and the phone number for the pizza shop!

We have a ton of family pictures that are affixed with those sturdy clear plastic sleeves that have a magnetic backing so they don’t fall off when the doors are slammed. I love being able to look at those photos every time I go to the fridge and guests always get a kick out of them too. Personally, I could care less what color our fridge is
One thing I have struggled to organize is my favorite kid’s drawings. I had them all stuffed in a folder where they couldn’t be appreciated. I just went out and bought some bulletin board squares and stick them to the back of my door and now I can pin up and enjoy my favorites.

@Bill Dwight at FamZoo, Bill, I saw that picture earlier on 3T when you were talking about your office. That is a FABULOUS idea! Thanks for sharing it with my readers.
@Kelli,
Oh, by the way, for anyone who is interested, I found them at Target in the bulletin board section and they were pretty darn cheap for a 4-pack of 12in x 12in cork tiles – I think around $5, but I don’t have the receipt anymore. They’re made by “The Board Dudes”.
yes great Do the job: T
Our refridgerator is kind of cluttered but the rest of the house is not. Kids put new pics all the day to fridge and we are running out of magnets to hold them and every time one picture falls down when we open the fridge door. Nice to know thing could be worse like in that pic.
