My kids like to watch Super Nanny on our dish network satellite TV every week. I enjoy watching their reactions to other children their age who are hard to handle. I think the show gives them a good idea of what parents go through and what other children look like when they are not well behaved. I usually have a few days of the kids being better behaved after they watch Super Nanny.
I believe that it is great for children to watch other children get in trouble for misbehaving because I see them process what is right and wrong behavior. Super Nanny has rules and ideas that work great for my children such as her time out technique. I appreciate the way that she addresses problems that everyday parents, including myself, have with being a positive but firm authority in a child’s life.
Super Nanny is able to teach parents how to stick with bed time routines, potty training and tone of voice. These are all issues parents run into. Having a hyper toddler I have instituted many of the techniques we watch on the show and he is aware that this is the way we discipline just as he sees on the show. He understands why he gets a timeout and that he has to be responsible for an apology after the time spent alone.
Temper tantrums in my house are cut in half using the techniques for discipline as well as play time and scheduling. I make sure my smallest son is in bed on time each night now and follows a strict routine so he doesn’t get over tired. The show has eliminated a lot of issues in my home and is a great way to spend time with my children when we just want to watch some TV.
