Where did the year go? This year, we have been doing Sonlight Curriculum and Tripp has LOVED all the reading, but he does not like all the work involved in the SAXON Math. As he gets older, the Math is getting harder and harder for me to help him with.
I have been doing some research to find him a program that won’t take as much writing (Saxon has him doing about 130 problems each day!) and won’t cost us as much. Money is an issue for us this year. The issue being that we don’t have any. LOL!
In my research, I came across TutorVista. Their Statistics tutor offers free Statistics help. Since he is going into 5th grade, he will be doing more statistics questions, statistics problems, etc and may need help.
I want to do a program this year that uses more of the internet than Sonlight did. His Usborne Science book is Internet Linked – that means that it gives you links to look at that give more information. But, there was so much work involved, that he didn’t have time to do the extras. I would like him to be able to do the extras! You know, we want to learn about worms, fire ants, and other creepy crawlies!
He says that he wants to go to the local public school when he gets to public school, so that means I only have one year left to try to get him prepared for it.
Ideas? Have any of you had kids go to public school after homeschool? How did it work for you and them?
