So, What Do You Do? Ahh.. the question!

I am a Mom!  “No, what do you DO… like, for a living?”

How many of us stay-at-home moms get that question?  I see some hands!  I am going to make some fliers and carry them around with me from now on because, the answer is just much too long to keep repeating. icon smile So, What Do You Do? Ahh.. the question!

So, what is my “job” or what “do I do”?

I eat bon bons and watch soaps all day!

Kidding, altough sometimes I feel like that is what outsiders view a mommy’s job as.

It certainly is the most underpaid job. I asked my husband the other day how much vacation time have I earned, cause I really need a break.

He jokingly said I had earned enough vacation time for a restroom break.

Where is EEOC when I need them?

Honestly, I always dreamed of the day I would be home with my kids. And I’ve been home for the last 4 years and I work harder now than I ever did when I put in 40 hours a week in corporate America.

No sick days, no vacation time, and you are everything to everyone- just as your lists indicate. I’m not sure everyone understands what goes into one day and that life never stops happening!

I’ve never come up with a clever response, other than the one of sarcasm… when I tell them I eat bon, bons and watch soaps all day.

I am digging the flyer idea! Classic.

If they fall for it, the laugh is as good for me as it is for them.

    Great post!

    What a list!

I do almost all of that–though I am not a member of the PTA. I don’t think I’d have the patience for it.

Awesome! It’s amazing what we accomplish every day and don’t even realize. We should be considered qualified for just about any career we want once our kids are grown.

Wasn’t there an article that came out not too long ago that, if SAHM got paid for all that they did, they would be making over $100,000? Can’t remember the exact number…

I have no desire to go back to work after being home fore three years now… I do miss the “coffee and lunch breaks” on occasion though.

Thank goodness for DH and Grandma! They allow me to get out occasionally on my own without kids in tow.

I guess the thing with this is that if you don’t get paid then it is not a job. Like that charity is not a job, that’s just how the world works. It’s not a job but someone’s gotta do it.
