Is one of your New Year’s Resolutions to learn to sew? Or maybe you do, but it has been a while and you’re a teeny bit rusty. Whether you are just learning, or need an easy task to get your confidence up, Squiggly Twigs Designs is what you need. Squiggly Twigs Designs is a pattern design company specializing in quick and easy, yet stylish, patterns for moms with lots to do. Debbie is the owner and designer. She named Squiggly Twigs Designs after her daughter. Squiggly Twigs Designs offers 12 really cute patterns that range in size from 6 months to size 10 (adolescent).
The designs are very simple, yet fun and stylish. These are perfect for beginners. I was graciously given the opportunity to try out one of the patterns, since I can sew. I was sent the Cute and Quick Pants e-Pattern. Now I have been sewing since I was 6 and truly on my own since I was 8. I am by no means extremely skilled. I completely stopped sewing in middle school (since you can’t sew Guess Jeans) and did a few things in high school. I can sew, but you will not be seeing me on Project Runway.
This pattern is very easy and does not involve zippers or pockets (two common areas beginners get intimidated by). I actually used this pattern to create a pair of pajama pants for my son.
I placed my order, and since it was an e-Pattern, I received a link to download the pattern. I downloaded the pattern and printed it up along with instructions. I am very accustomed to using store bought patterns (and an occasional design I created). This was my first time using a pattern in this form.
That being said, it was extremely easy to use and easy to follow. The instructions are very clear and use terminology that allows a beginner to accomplish the tasks. Sometimes you get too much sewing jargon in and newbies get too frazzled.
I highly recommend Squiggly Twigs Designs if you are looking to start sewing as a new creative outlet. If you already sew, Squiggly Twigs Designs has a lot of cute options that can be easily customized. Isn’t that what sewing for yourself is all about?
Here are the pajama pants I made for my son. I am so sorry about not having a picture of him wearing them. He would not put them on. I tried on a couple of different days, but he refused to pose. It actually became a big ordeal in my house (and he has refused to take any pictures since). So instead I photographed them by themselves.
How would you like to win a Squiggly Twigs e-Pattern? Oh yeah, I thought so!! Here is your chance!
One reader will win their choice of:
Cute and Quick Pants e-Pattern or Fun and Easy Knit Top/Dress e-Pattern

I have soooo found a new place to look for sewing patterns! Thanks for the website. I love to sew, but don’t have a lot of time or energy, and now have a newborn baby to take up more of that time and energy. I love the epatterns, and really want to try that pants pattern. I have a son with Autism, and he’s picky about what he’ll wear. The ability to make him those pants would be wonderful.
