How To Write and Tackle Your To Do List

I want to see a show of hands.

  1. How many of you make a to do list?
  2. How many of you actually complete your to do list?

Yeah, I didn’t either for a very long time.  Why?  Because I would write down EVERYTHING that needed doing and would expect to get them done.  I would end up overwhelmed and frustrated!  Consequently, I would get even less done!

Until I realized that I didn’t have to add everything to my to do list!  My new list consists of:

8 Daily Tasks

  1. Plan My Day
  2. Dishes Morning
  3. Homeschool
  4. Load of Laundry
  5. Dishes Afternoon
  6. Check Mail
  7. Supper
  8. Kitchen Pick Up

Then, I have a place for 6 weekly tasks, 2 monthly tasks, and 2 seasonal tasks.  I have spreadsheets made with all the tasks that should be done weekly, monthly, and seasonally.  Each morning, I add the still to do tasks to my lists.  If I have none left to do, then the space gets to stay blank! :-)

I also have sections for 6 Blog Tasks, 8 Glasses of Water, Supper Plan, Notes, and Goal or Theme of the Day.

Finally, I have one section that is just a list of 10 blank spaces.  Those blank spaces are the other things that crop up through our lifetime.  For example: my husband left his baseball schedule sitting on my computer this morning.  I added, “Put baseball schedule on calendar.”

Do you have a To Do List method that works for you?

      @Rachael,

      Well, I am glad you researched! I didn’t and found someone who I thought was copying me. I was a bit upset when I couldn’t make myself a new twitter ID to reflect my blog. Then, I found that she has been blogging since 07 *gasp* my bad, guess I accidently copied her!

    I’m like you used to be. A list a mile long and no idea how I’m going to get it all done. Your new approach makes so much more sense although I would probably still have the mile long list hidden away somewhere. My name is Lisa and yes I am addicted to lists:)

    I used to do a list and for a long time I haven’t.
    It shows in my home too. I need to back to where I was. I get so overwhelmed sometimes I don’t know how. I am going to work on this and start a list today.

      @Triniel,

      Good for you! I have been thinking of doing some kind of to do list meme but can’t figure out exactly how or when I want to do it. PLus, do I really have time to add a new feature to my blog? Hmmmm
