It is 9 pm here as I write this and I have just walked in the door from looking at lights. Oh wait, let me back up!
Yesterday evening after my husband finally did his Christmas shopping, the boys begged to open one gift. So, we all chose a gift and sat in our respective places. I pulled out my camera and, guess what, it has DIED!! I switched batteries, etc and it simply will not work. I get these weird beeping noises and the display says E 18. My husband Googled it and found that it is a very common error, but none of the 7 listed DIY fixes worked. So, we opened our one gift each without taking pictures. Tank is 3… do you realize what that means? It means this is one of the most fun Christmases for US that he will ever have. Everything is fun and exciting for him and I have no stinkin’ camera to record his incredible lit up face.
So, tonight we went out on our annual 3 hour trip to look at lights and visit Santa. Oh that’s right… I DON’T HAVE A STINKING CAMERA! Does it matter? Oh, heck no, it doesn’t matter because it started raining and Santa wasn’t even there. Now, I have no camera and my kids haven’t seen Santa this year.
Wait, I am not done yet… we get home from looking at lights and someone left a bowl of food on the stove. Thanks to the rain (and the bowl… oh, and the wonderful child that left it there) I found my kitchen literally COVERED in ANTS!! Yes, ANTS! They are inside my stove, etc! I have sprayed and washed dishes and sprayed some more. They keep coming out (stupid, death defying ants!) and I am crying and just plain overwhelmed. I cried every time I saw a pretty house that I couldn’t take a picture of and well, I have no way of recording this Christmas.
Oh yeah, here is the kicker (crap, Ricky is spraying again!!) I will have a house full tomorrow at 11 am for dinner with Ricky’s family! I have an ant problem, a crying problem, and no camera! Dinner will be great!
How’s your Christmas going? On the plus side, it can’t get much worse, right?
*Disclaimer – I am beyond stressed and just really need to rant. Yes, I know how lucky I am…
- I have 3 wonderful, healthy kids.
- I have a husband who adores me.
- A friend woke me up this morning with great news (that I can’t share yet but it has to do with the We Blog! Conference)
- I have a home that doesn’t cost me too much in a mortgage payment each month.
- Both of my parents are still alive.
- I get along with my in-laws. <grin> In fact, I am really good friends with my husband’s sister.
But, aside from all that…. I have AN ANT PROBLEM, a CRYING PROBLEM, and NO CAMERA! It still feels really bad. Oh, did I mention that I am still sick!? Ugghhhh!
So, again.. MERRY STINKIN’ CHRISTMAS!

With a day like that, I don’t think tomorrow can be any worse. But then again, with kids in the house, who knows? Seriously have a nice Christmas! Enjoy it- your kids will grow up very fast and you will wonder where these days went!

I am so sorry. That stinks!! I can sooo empathize. Make sure someone else has a camera so they can at least get you some pictures. I hope tomorrow goes much better.

Oh yes, when I have dinner tomorrow I will be sure my SIL takes pictures of my kids, too. At mom’s tomorrow night, I will be sure her girls take pictures. Etc etc etc… but when we are doing our own personal Christmas and when the boys wake up to see what Santa brought, I won’t be able to take any pictures of it.

I am so sorry you are having a rotten day…but I met a 7 year old little girl tonight that has a Daddy in the hospital who isn’t expected to make it over the next few days. Her and her mom are homeless now because they couldn’t afford the rent since they have no money coming in. And she is getting no presents because they have no money. So, I gave them everything I had on me (which wasn’t much) and plan to do some more to make her Christmas at least a little bit brighter. I won’t be much…but it will be something. So it could be much much worse.

Oooh, poop on ya’ Jyl!! A “good” friend would have felt sorry for me… oh no, not you! You have to make me feel horrible for my pity party!
You know, if I hadn’t just HAD to have my desk, I could have bought a new camera. LOL!
Seriously, Is there anything I can do for your new little friend? You know, my playroom is always open!

I feel so bad for you and can’t help but giggle. Here you are……no pictures……but you have a brand new camera. Honey, when you call the manufacturing company I would lean REAL hard on the missing Christmas pics. Might get an upgrade…you deserve it.
In the meantime……thank the lord as you are doing and go ahead and cry. oh, and squash them ants.
