Well, Merry STINKIN’ Christmas!

It is 9 pm here as I write this and I have just walked in the door from looking at lights.  Oh wait, let me back up!

Yesterday evening after my husband finally did his Christmas shopping, the boys begged to open one gift.  So, we all chose a gift and sat in our respective places.  I pulled out my camera and, guess what, it has DIED!!  I switched batteries, etc and it simply will not work.  I get these weird beeping noises and the display says E 18.  My husband Googled it and found that it is a very common error, but none of the 7 listed DIY fixes worked.  So, we opened our one gift each without taking pictures.  Tank is 3… do you realize what that means?  It means this is one of the most fun Christmases for US that he will ever have.  Everything is fun and exciting for him and I have no stinkin’ camera to record his incredible lit up face. icon sad Well, Merry STINKIN’ Christmas!

So, tonight we went out on our annual 3 hour trip to look at lights and visit Santa.  Oh that’s right… I DON’T HAVE A STINKING CAMERA!  Does it matter?  Oh, heck no, it doesn’t matter because it started raining and Santa wasn’t even there.  Now, I have no camera and my kids haven’t seen Santa this year.

Wait, I am not done yet… we get home from looking at lights and someone left a bowl of food on the stove.  Thanks to the rain (and the bowl… oh, and the wonderful child that left it there) I found my kitchen literally COVERED in ANTS!! Yes, ANTS!  They are inside my stove, etc!  I have sprayed and washed dishes and sprayed some more.  They keep coming out (stupid, death defying ants!) and I am crying and just plain overwhelmed.  I cried every time I saw a pretty house that I couldn’t take a picture of and well, I have no way of recording this Christmas.

Oh yeah, here is the kicker (crap, Ricky is spraying again!!) I will have a house full tomorrow at 11 am for dinner with Ricky’s family!  I have an ant problem, a crying problem, and no camera!  Dinner will be great!

How’s your Christmas going?  On the plus side, it can’t get much worse, right?

*Disclaimer – I am beyond stressed and just really need to rant.  Yes, I know how lucky I am…

  1. I have 3 wonderful, healthy kids.
  2. I have a husband who adores me.
  3. A friend woke me up this morning with great news (that I can’t share yet but it has to do with the We Blog! Conference)
  4. I have a home that doesn’t cost me too much in a mortgage payment each month.
  5. Both of my parents are still alive.
  6. I get along with my in-laws.  <grin> In fact, I am really good friends with my husband’s sister.

But, aside from all that…. I have AN ANT PROBLEM, a CRYING PROBLEM, and NO CAMERA!  It still feels really bad.  Oh, did I mention that I am still sick!? Ugghhhh!

So, again.. MERRY STINKIN’ CHRISTMAS!

Blogging Basics: Goals

This is the perfect subject to bring you girls this late in the year!  Everyone who wants to make their blog a business should set goals.  Short term and long term goals.  Lots of people don’t know what to include as goals.  Well, I set goals each month and will be taking them a step further this year.  But, here are the goals I set (in fact, I made a spreadsheet that I can fill out each month):

  1. Technorati Authority
  2. Number of Blog Posts
  3. Google Connect Followers (doesn’t look like I am going to reach this goal)
  4. Email Feed Followers
  5. Twitter Followers
  6. Networked Blogs
  7. Web Grade – www.websitegrader.com
  8. Blog Grade – www.bloggrader.com
  9. Links In (web grader and blog grader are so different that I just use my Google Analytics on this one)
  10. Visitors
  11. Alexa Rank
  12. Compete Rank
  13. Articles posted to Digg
  14. Google Page Rank

Then, I work my rear off trying to reach those goals. icon smile Blogging Basics: Goals   How?  By utilizing all the Blogging Basics that I have been bringing each of you.  How do I decide how much increase I want?  For the first time I recorded my stats then a month later, recorded them again and set goals for the next month.  I paid attention to the increase number and made the next month’s goals increase by more.  Make sense?

For example if my Twitter Followers were 900 and in a month they increased to 1,000 then for the next month I made my goals to increase them by 110. icon smile Blogging Basics: Goals

You may want some other goals, also like money making goals, guest posters, starting a new thread (aka like I started Blogging Basics), etc.  If you make a post about your goals, I would LOVE to see it.  Please leave a comment with the direct link.

Good luck making goals and working to reach them!

My Newest Gig

Ok, so it isn’t a very big deal… but, I am writing on Associated Content now.  I published a Christmas Haiku and I will make $1.50 for every 1,000 views of it. ROTFL!  I know, great money, right? icon smile My Newest Gig

Check out my recently published content on AC:
Christmas Haiku – Pretty Tree

I wrote poetry many, many moons ago and won several monetary awards, but I am so out of practice that I thought it best to start back into it with a Haiku or two. icon smile My Newest Gig
