“Baby Got Back” or “Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star”

I love the show Friends.  I was an avid watcher when it was still running.  I still can catch some reruns every once in a while when “Mommy TV Time” is available.  I saw the episode where Ross sings “Baby Got Back” to Emma to soothe her.  It was funny back then, but it is soooo much funnier now!  It is funny how some shows that are not realistic at all (6 beautiful people all living happily and everything works out great) can capture truly realistic moments.

When my son was born I would sing him “Jesus Loves Me” to soothe him.  It worked like a charm.  It still works and he is 3 years old.  When I was pregnant with my daughter, I just assumed things would be about the same.  Of course I knew they would be different people with different personalities and interests, but I had NO IDEA!  My daughter would scream even louder to “Jesus Loves Me” than she was screaming before.  Instead of swaying slowly from side to side.  I would have to bounce up and down.  Not just a little bounce, I’m talking pretty good bouncing here.  I was bouncing and started signing an upbeat song that popped in my head.  It worked.  So I sang it again the next time she fussed and it worked.  It soon became my daughter’s song.  It was “Boom-Bapa-Boom” by Jimmie Vaughan.  Yes, the rockin’ song from Major League 2 soundtrack.

That’s right.  My sweet little son calmed down to “Jesus Loves Me” and my dear daughter jams out “Boom-Bapa-Boom”.  If that is not indicative of their personalities and their differences, I do not know what is!

So, what were your kids songs?  Was it “Jesus Loves Me”, “Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star” or was it something with a little more spunk to it?  Share it with us.
