*NOTE: I did not review this for the blog bash, this press release was provided by Bonnie… but, I have reviewed her email consultation in the past and my post on it can be found HERE.”
Organizing expert Bonnie Joy Dewkett announces the release of her book, The Joyful Organizer’s Guide to a Joyful Move.
A Danbury resident, Dewkett is a professional organizer and former relocation specialist. She knows what it takes to help families move across the country, and around the world. Her organizing advice has appeared in The Ridgefield Press, Diva Toolbox, The Brookfield Journal, and a variety of websites.
“Moving is one of the three most stressful things anyone will go through in life,” said Dewkett, who owns The Joyful Organizer LLC. “The issue is that there are so many tasks to complete, and people become overwhelmed because they are generally short on time to complete these tasks. They need to know where to start, what steps to take, and when to complete each step along the way.”
Dewkett wrote her moving guide, “The Joyful Organizer’s Guide to a Joyful Move,” on sale now for $25 at Amazon.com, when she started her own professional organizing business. After working with transferring employees she found that the most common complaint was that there was no “manual” to keep her clients organized throughout their moves.
“People who are moving need assistance keeping their lists, moving contacts and action items straight. This book gives you tons of organizing tips, and actually helps you plan a successful move.” Dewkett said.
The book’s chapters serve as a resource for families. Each color-coded chapter gives the reader step-by-step instructions for getting each area of their lives and homes organized. Worksheets throughout the book help readers create checklists and cross items off as they are completed.
“There is no reason for life to be chaotic during a move. By logically packing up your old home, setting up your new home, and working together as a family, any move can be smooth and virtually stress free.” Dewkett said.
In addition to her classes, Dewkett offers on-site organizing for homes and businesses in Fairfield, Litchfield, and Westchester Counties, as well in New York City. Clients can have their homes organized while they enjoy free time or they can work side by side with Bonnie and her organizers. She offers quick and simple solutions that work with your lifestyle, home and budget.
If you don’t need hand on organizing assistance, The Joyful Organizer also offers on-line organizing, with a team of experts from across the country. For more information visit www.thejoyfulorganizer.com.

My problem area is the office! It's so bad! I cannot stay on top of it because I don't have much storage room and I get overwhelmed.

My problem area is my kitchen. I have limited storage space there and whenever I am in there, I am in a hurry. So, nothing ever stays organized. It is soooo frustrating!

My problem area is my kitchen. I can get it almost done then it's time to dirty everything back up for lunch or dinner. Then everyone throws everything on my counters and table.

My problem is the kitchen. Too much food, too many dishes and not enough cabinet space to put anything. I guess it could be worse but it always looks like a disaster has struck.

The whole house!! Ok, but the absolute worse is my "sewing room" which I never get to sew in, because it's used as a giant closet.
Literally – you have to climb over things to get in and out of that room. It's embarrassing. Everything that I don't have time or place to put away from the rest of the house, ends up in there because I can close the door.
Oh, and books. We LOVE books. Books are EVERYwhere here, and now that my son is starting to read by himself, I really should organize them and keep them on shelves instead of thrown into bins in every room, so he can actually find the one he wants to read! Gotta encourage the reading!
My entry is a disaster! We come in and drop everything there and it just sits – it doesn't necessarily have a home and it looks awful!
