(Note: this press release was provided by Elmer’s Glue Crew)
Elmer’s® Products, Inc., a leader in adhesives, arts and crafts and educational products, developed the Elmer’s Glue Crew Recycling Program™
The Elmer’s Glue Crew Recycling Program, launched in 2008, encourages classrooms nationwide to actively learn about recycling by collecting empty glue bottles and glue sticks to be recycled. Starting on Earth Day through the end of the school year, teachers and parent volunteers simply take their boxes of “empties” to the nearest Walmart store and drop them off with the people greeter. From there, Walmart ensures the empty products are handled by the appropriate recycling facilities.
Program participation exploded this year to more than 16,000 teachers, 83,000 classrooms and one million students, resulting in the recycling of approximately 2 million Elmer’s glue sticks and bottles.
Each year, the Elmer’s Glue Crew Recycling Program rewards a classroom for its outstanding efforts in recycling. As part of the grand prize, Elmer’s works with American Forests to plant 1,000 trees in the classroom’s honor as part of the Global ReLeaf ecosystem restoration project which often reforests wildfire decimated areas.
Teachers may register for the free program all year long at ElmersGlueCrew.com. Those teachers already registered do not need to register again each year.
Elmer’s Glue Crew Recycling Program is gearing up for the 2009-2010 campaign which will begin in late-August/early-September. Follow our progress on Twitter and Facebook.

Wonderful, Krista! I do have a couple more questions… ![]()
1. Is the Glue Crew open to homeschooling parents or just public/private school teachers? Anyone can participate in the program. All you have to do is print a label off of the Elmer’s Glue Crew Web site to include with the box of Elmer’s product you take to Wal-mart. Please note that Wal-mart does not start accepting the empty glue containers until Earth Day, which is April 22, 2010. The label will be updated once the 2009-2010 Glue Crew program begins. You can find more information at http://www.elmersgluecrew.com/how.asp.
2. Is it possible for you to tell me exactly what comes in the giveaway? The products included in the giveaway will be:
