As a member of the TOS Crew, I was given the opportunity to review this movie on teaching kids about web design.
In this day and age of technology, the basics of HTML codes and Web Design is something everyone should know! My oldest is nine and I believe this is a great age to build a fundamental foundation of HTML comprehension.
In my quest for blogging knowledge, I have come across tons of books, WebPages, and e-newsletters teaching HTML, but none have been as innovative or straightforward as Web Design For Kids!
Introductory Code, Application, and Revision… It is all explained very clearly and detailed but is not in the least bit overwhelming nor boring!
A male narrator takes his time giving directions and showing updates via PC screenshots. There are a couple kids also featured in the video who are working with the narrator and keeping each other excited with congratulations, etc.
Tripp was given plenty of time to work, and everything was explained in careful detail. Kids were reminded to refresh and save their work regularly. This also gave them a change to see their pages unfolding with each step and revision! Of course, instant-feedback is great for children!
One thing: you need to have a television and DVD player near a computer as the DVD works on hand-on steps.
TO BUY: Available at the company’s Website for $20, this one hour 22 minute DVD is essential computer literacy material for homeschoolers and regular schools alike!
